It seems like every time I go to TJ Maxx, I am always let down by either their items or prices.
I have not given up yet and went back just a few days ago. I feel pretty lucky with what I found.
I went there in search of some statement decor pieces.
I guess I should let the cat out of the bag on my blog and say that we put an offer on a house earlier this week! It's a short sale which means pretty much opposite of short! Short sale is meaning the bank is forgiving the seller of their mortgage so we could hear back at latest in August.
Therefore, I am on the lookout for some cute pieces to design my new house. Where ever that house may be!
This adorable Elephant just shouted "take me home!" And I graciously obliged!
I mean for $9.99 wouldn't you! I think it would look adorable in one of the kids' rooms.
Plus add a little spray paint to it and you have an adorable modern elephant.
I haven't decided what color I want to paint him.
Then I found this awesome bowl. It first caught my eye randomly placed in the cooking section and I just loved it until I turned it upside down and saw for how much. $29.99. I wasn't crazy for a $30 bowl, so I just kept looking. And of course kept thinking about this bowl. I knew I had to get it, even though it was a bit pricey, I am sure I will put it to good use with something bright and colorful put inside sitting on a coffee table or ottoman.
I am totally wanting to have Daniel make a custom ottoman from Sarah M. Dorsey Designs blog.
These ottomans range up to the $1000's so I thought it would be fun to make a really stylish, yet functional piece of furniture for a fraction of the price!

I feel the same way about TJ Maxx but I went there with my mother-in-law before Mother's Day and we both scored some great summer outfits. I guess it depends what day you go on and you just have to keep trying! That elephant was worth it! =)
ReplyDeleteThat elephant is CUTE!
ReplyDeleteI so wish I could make a fun run to TJMAXX myself. But alas it is not on the schedule of necessary events for the day or anytime in the near future.
ReplyDeleteahhh congrats on the house. It can be hard to be patient with short sales so I hope it all works out. I love your taste in decor
ReplyDeleteNew follower and I love your designs! I featured two of your prints in a blog post today! :)

I hope your short sale works out! We actually ended up waiting over a year for a short sale and ended up buying a different house. Don't be discouraged though. That was a horrible scenario and I hope you guys get your house!! Congratulations! I had no idea you guys were looking!!
