Update on the Renovations

We have already started to tare down walls in our house.  Like I mentioned before, the house is fairly old and wasn't in the best shape because the people before us were foreclosed on and sounds like it was pretty bitter from what the neighbors have told us.  Lucky for us we get to fix all of their damages.  The wall that Daniel tore down opens up into the living room where the front door is.  We want something more open and it just made more sense allowing for a better flow into the kitchen.  These pictures were taken Tuesday night and last night, Daniel got the entire wall down.  Today appliances are being delivered.  We plan on keeping the cabinets in the house and just sand and paint them which we have started doing.  He said he already took the old sink out, ready for the new beautiful farm sink! Hopefully by this weekend we have a semi working kitchen.  For most people this kind of renovation might be scary and intimidating.  It is for me, but I LOVE it.  I love making things beautiful again and would prefer doing this than having a bunch of people doing it for me.  Sure, it would be loads easier, but I do love the feeling of being done afterwards and knowing I did that.  My husband is so handy that pretty much everything I want changed, he can do.  It's just finding the time to do it.  We hope to be moved in at the end of the month and then we will be able to do more fixing up around the house.

  1. I think it's great you can do all those repairs yourself!! I bet you guys saved a BUNDLE by buying a foreclosed house, so I'm sure it makes all the financial sense to fix it up considering you'll be paying less overall I'm sure. Good for you guys! So excited for you!

  7. I have my eye on a short-sale (our first house was vacant when we bought it, but we did our share of remodeling!) and I'm so nervous it'll get WRECKED by the current owners in the mean time... I wish you luck!
