It's been 8 weeks since we added our newest little lady. She sure has kept us busy and smiling! I was terrified, but bravely entering the "mother to 3" gig. After we started getting into our groove and creating a schedule, it hasn't been all that bad. Granted, my baby takes 3 long naps during the day so I still get some stretches of time where I can get things done. Olivia, my 5 year old, has started Kindergarten and my 3 year old Harrison has started preschool. They go at opposite times, which has worked out really well because there's not as much fighting! I get some one one time with my bigger kids while baby naps, which has been so nice! I know they both really appreciate that time as do I.
Naomi has been sleeping better at night! I think I have been really blessed with a good sleeper or my mothering skills are just amazing...or not. We put her on our bedtime routine that we do with our older kids and she is out around 8pm for the night. I put her in her bassinet which is in our room. She sleeps 6-7 hours, wakes up to eat and then falls back to sleep until 7 or 8 am. It really has been amazing! However, I am not holding my breath since babies change their schedules all the time! Who knows what next week will bring.
I feel like I am really enjoying this baby stage much more than I did with my other two. My first rocked my world! I think every first time mom has no idea what to expect and so it's all very stressful! Then my second was difficult because he is only 16 months younger than his sister which felt like I had two babies at once on opposite schedules. We waited 3.5 years this time to have Naomi so we could avoid the stress we had last time so now I feel much more calm and able to care for my precious baby. I don't freak out at every little cry or worry about all the what if's. It's been pretty great so far and I cannot complain!
