What made you want to lose weight?
I have always been heavier and its been a life long goal of mine to do this.  Even at my heaviest I have always wanted to run a marathon.  Just the sense of accomplishment has been enticing to me.  I wanted to be healthy for my children.  After having a high risk pregnancy with my son (high blood pressure), it scared me that the reason my children would have problems being born was because of me.  I wasn't treating my body the way it should have been, so I had to make a choice to change or stay the same.

What did you do in the beginning to start losing weight?
I simply started walking because thats all I could really do.  I walked 2-3 miles a day with my kids in a double stroller through out my neighborhood.  As my endurance strengthened and I wanted to push myself more, I would walk without them for longer distances.  I gradually started to run.  It took me about 5 months to be able to run a mile without stopping.  I started to do 5k's and my love for running just grew.

What do you eat?
I just eat very clean and fresh foods.  I eat lean meats, whole grains, fruits and vegetables, almond milk, protein shakes, egg whites, at least 100 oz of water a day (more in the Summer).

Do you ever cheat?
In the beginning, I cheated about once a week and it wasn't very healthy either.  I would spend most of my Saturday consuming all the calories I didn't eat all week.  I still lost weight, but my attitude towards food hadn't changed.  Not until Thanksgiving time, I started to cheat 2-3 a month because my body could handle being without sugars and high calorie foods for a lot longer.  Plus, I saw some even crazier results from doing that.

How much do you weigh?
I don't really like discussing this because I still am not comfortable with that yet.  I am below 200 but I think once I hit my 100 lb mark I will make it known.  I know that it may be silly to some, but I am not ready yet to share a number I have hid for basically my whole life.  Not until I had lost 45 lbs, did I tell my husband how much I weighed.  That was incredibly difficult, but very liberating and I am sure once I tell my blog readers, I will feel the same.

What is your number one tip for someone who is starting out their own weight loss journey?
I always tell people to start small.  Don't try and run right away if you just simply can't.  Cut out most bad foods, but treat yourself once a week.  I feel like when I completely take everything away, I just crave it more and then cheat.  You will gradually be able to run a mile if you work up to it.

Any tips to become a runner?
I hated running for most of my life.  It hurt and I just was not good at it.  I knew I could walk so thats what I did for a while until I decided to up my intensity.  Just start slow again.  Walk and walk and walk.  But then try and run 1/4 of a mile.  Then the next time run 1/2 a mile.  You will get better over time.

How many calories do you eat a day?
I eat between 1400-1600 calories a day.

How many calories do you burn a day?
I burn anywhere between 500-1000 calories a day IN JUST EXERCISE.  That is not counting my every day mommy duties of running around and picking up toys.

Do you have rest days?
Sundays I usually rest with my family and don't exercise.  My body needs to recoup from the week and it makes me anxious to get a hard workout in Monday morning.

Do you make your kids and husband eat this way?
Certainly not my husband.  I don't care what he eats.  He is his own person and can make his own decisions.  For my kids, they are kids.  I don't think they need to be counting calories.  However, since I eat this way, they love vegetables and fruit because they see their mommy eating it.  My husband has become more conscious of what he eats and has become a little bit healthier.  I let my kids still eat pizza and ice cream because I know that they are just kids but they sure love a fruit smoothie for breakfast and always beg for water.

  5. Is your caloric intake net? What I mean is do you add the number of calories burned into the number you eat? If I ate 1500 and burned 1000 my net would be 500.

  10. I am used to taking a lot of supplements, and I will always recommend taking supplement but I would use caution about ordering those which your stomach might want to reject.
